Artist Statement

I am a visual artist, teacher, and researcher based in Longford, Ireland, currently completing a Bachelor of Education in Fine Art and Design at the Limerick School of Art and Design, TUS.

My practice is interdisciplinary, spanning painting, illustration, print and textiles. Rooted in a lifelong immersion in books and poetry, my work is deeply informed by storytelling and the ways narrative shapes both personal and collective identity. I am particularly drawn to people - their lived experiences, memories, and cultural inheritances- and I explore these themes through interviews, historical research, and archival imagery.

At present, my work focuses on Irish female identity, particularly the relationships between mothers and daughters. I am interested in how history, myth, and representation intersect, and in how women’s voices and bodies continue to shape and challenge cultural narratives. Colour plays a central role in my practice: I favour bright, vibrant palettes that embody both resilience and vitality, reflecting my perspective as a 21st-century Irish woman.

My aim is to create work that weaves together research, memory, and visual expression, offering spaces where overlooked stories can emerge and where the complexity of Irish womanhood - past and present - can be reimagined.
